One of my favorite places in New York City. The Fashion Institute of Technology on Fashion Ave. Upon emerging from the Subway and first setting eyes on this architectural beauty, I knew I was home. This is where I want to go and continue my schooling. Not only does it shove me right into the world of Fashion, but it's one subway ride away from some of my favorite shops, restaurants, people, and parks.

Next To Normal

This is the amazing show my best friend decided to take us to see on our short visit to NYC.


The summary of the play (via wiki): "Next to Normal is a rock musical. Its story concerns a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life." I have to say I was a little disappointed at first because I had really wanted to see The Lion King or something of the like, but by the end of the first few songs I was absolutely enamored.




Kyle Dean Massey who played the role of Gabe, the son.




Adam Chanler-Berat who plays Henry, the boyfriend.




Jessica Phillips who played Diana, the mother. Alice Ripley had been sick, so Jessica was playing the lead. She was absolutely amazing tho.





We went to the side stage after the door and got our playbills signed and pictures [duh] We missed out on getting pictures with Jennifer Damiano (Natalie, the daughter), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Madden, the doctors), and Dan Berry (who played the father that night instead of J. Robert Spencer). The whole cast was phenomenal and so nice. I was in a fit of tears by the end, along with Victor and Shelby. I could not have asked for a better first Broadway experience (minus the coughing interruption I had several times).

Good Eats

So for the four days we were in New York City, we tried to make the best of it and visit as many places as we could, not to mention eating at as many new places as we could. And of all the places we ate, I have to say my favorite was simply 2 Bros Pizza. I mean, come on, a dollar for arguably some amazing pizza? Not much can beat that. Pair that with an apple Snapple, and you have my winning combination. We probably ate at 2bros for 3 of the four nights we were there. Not healthy, but so good. Oh, and we also grabbed Baklava and Falafel at Mamoun's up the street. St. Marks Street was our go to place after most of our nighttime activities. I picked up a really sweet Bowie t-shirt and we visited our first sex shop on that street. Ah, memories.

MOMA

Taken in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. After making a quick stop at the dorms to change, we hopped the Subway and walked another couple of hundred blocks [exaggeration of course] we arrived for a quick run thru of the museum before we ran off to catch Next To Normal. There was one spot in particular that had this amazing red lighting, so before we left, we made a picture stop.
